Raagalahari - 2023 Rules And Regulations
- An entry fee of Rs.150/- will be charged per participant per category payable online for solo performances. The entry fee for Bharatanatyam group dance will be Rs 500 per group
- Participation will be in two categories – juniors (10-14 years) and seniors (15-18 years).
- The participants should provide a proof of age document issued by Central / State Government or School if required by the organizers.
- Participants whose DOB is between 01/01/2010 and 31/12/2013 are eligible to participate in the Junior category.
- Participants whose DOB is between 01/01/2006 and 31/12/2009 are eligible to participate in the Senior category.
- Age eligibility will be based only on date of birth and not the grade in which the student is studying.
- A participant can participate in a maximum of 2 events including Bharatnatyam Group dance.
- Participants are requested to note down the registration number or save the screen shot after registering.
- We reserve the right to not award any or all prizes if the performances of all participants are below the expectation of the judges.
- We reserve the right to cancel any event in any category.
- The decision of the organizers and the judges will be final in all respects.
- No refund of participation fee under any circumstances. If a participant wishes to cancel the registration or is unable to participate due to any reason, the fee paid will be forfeited.
- Participants selected for finals will be required to sing a different song in the finals and not the same song that was sung in the preliminary round. Similarly Bharatanatyam performers should present a different dance routine in the finals.
- Communication with the participants/parents will be through email and Whatsapp. Messages will be broadcast on Whatsapp. The participants have to save the mobile no 8147034724 in their contact list to receive the broadcast messages.
- The songs for classical/semi-classical should be sung without any accompaniments or background music. Use of Shruti box is allowed.
- Bharatanatyam group will have only one round. Other events for which the number of participants is more than 20 will be judged in two stages. Prelims and Finals.
- Bharatanatyam participants should send their songs in MP3 format to [email protected] by 5 PM on 16/11/2023 which will be played by the organizers. If the size of the song is large it should be shared through google drive.
- Prelims will be held on 19/11/2023 Sunday from 9 AM to 1 PM and finals and prize distribution on the same day from 2 PM – 5 PM. Prelims results for all categories will be announced by 1.30 PM
- Breakfast or Lunch will NOT be provided by the organizers. The participants and parents should make their own arrangements.
- Note: (For Solo and Group Bharathanatyam) Only Classical, Traditional Recorded music will be entertained. (Film,YouTube, Semi Classical, Fusion, Commercial Songs will be disqualified directly)

Duration: Maximum 6 minutes

Type: Kriti with Raaga Alapana, Swrakalpana
Light Classical

Type: Deveranama – Any Daasa composition

Type: Kautvam, Thillana, Shabdam, Keerthana and Deveranama
Type: Any repertoire from Margam which has Abhinayam and Nrithya/Nritta
Seniors Group Finals
Duration: 8-10 Minutes
Group Size: Participants should be 4 to 6 in a group
Type: Deveranama/ Padam/Thillana
Type: Any repertoire from Margam which has Abhinayam and Nrithya/Nritta
Note: Only Classical, Traditional Recorded music will be entertained.

Performance Criteria:
In Light Classical Devarnaama children have to sing only the original ragas earlier composed by Daasas and not sing ones which have been used in films or any new ragas of the Devarnaama.
Light classical bhajans – children are supposed to sing non-filmy bhajans only.
Children can sing bhajans in Kannada,Hindi,Tamil,Telugu,Malayalam and Marathi.
Solo Dance (Bharathanatyam)
Time Duration
Junior: 6 to 8 minutes (Prelims and Finals)
Senior: 6 to 8 minutes (Prelims) 8 to 10 minutes (Finals)
Performance Criteria:
Juniors:
Children can perform to any one of the following in Prelims and Finals
Kautvam, Jathiswaram, Thillana, Shabdham or Keerthana.
Seniors:
Should dance to Kautvam, Jathiswaram, Thillana, Shabdham or Keerthana in Prelims
Should perform to a Varnam in Finals
Participants should come with their costumes and hairdo to the venue.
